Indigo Workshop
My story:
In our workshop in Veszprém, we make cotton products that cannot be found in stores. We do not wish to satisfy the needs of the masses, or to ride the ephemeral waves of fashion; instead, we would like to create new domestic values by rethinking existing, but mainly Hungarian values and themes, thus targeting a smaller but more demanding audience. We also have an intention to inform, which is why we always write a short description for our graphics on our website, and, with every product intended for sale, include a label displaying the product’s name and a miniature of the graphic, so that everyone knows what they are wearing and can tell everyone.
What will you find here?
Most of our products are T-shirts, however, we produce many textile bags, backpacks and pillows as well, and our eco-napkins, bread bags and eco-bags are also popular. On our website, you can choose from many graphics created by us or our guest graphic artists—the most popular ones are sold at the market. Our themes include nature: graphics of animals, mushrooms, Hungarian hills, leaves, Lake Balaton, and the fishes of the Danube and the Tisza. We also sell products with folk motifs, during the creation of which we perused ethnographic collections and books in order to find pictorial material from the folk art of the territory of historical Hungary that we could dust off and modernise, i.e. make acceptable for our customers. We are constantly developing our graphics, exploring mainly domestic themes: in addition to Hungarian poets, the ships of the Balaton, buttes and beech, we also have graphics made for children—T-shirts with machines, Hungarian ambulance cars, bugs and the Bakony dinosaur discovered in Iharkút—and adults, such as the new Ammonoids and Balatonites balatonicus products.
